Not many people know today that the first Microsoft™ software was not called MS-DOS®, but XENIX OS® and was announced in 1980. Operating system MS-DOS® 1.0 appeared a year later, in August, 1981. In 1984 IBM™ had chosen Microsoft™ XENIX® and MS-DOS® as the operating systems for their new personal computer-IBM PC AT. Since that moment Microsoft™ is the real low-maker in operating systems production industry. Windows® with its convenient graphical interface, with wide use of the mouse manipulator made it possible for a user to forget all the boring DOS commands. Everything became easier: just find the window you need and double-click the mouse. Despite the fact that this approach wasn’t developed by Microsoft™, it became its visiting-card and the basis for further development.
